Cruise boat and bridge scenes, Old Port Montreal

I always like to paint the cruise boats when they happen to be in port. This time I got close to the fence and stood in the full sun with my boonie hat and adequate clothing for protection from the sun, not to mention a layer of fresh sunscreen. Its amazing how large objects can be painted on small pieces of paper. The boat is truly massive, you see the pier tucked away in the bottom left of the painting. I liked the colourful array of world flags on the front mast, the primary yellow red and blue worked well with the dark blue of the bow and earthy tones in the water.

The Concorde bridge connects Park de Dieppe to St. Helen's Island. They redid the bike path on the bridge so it is silky smooth now, after only 5 years of construction, but today I was standing in the Old Port looking south west towards the bridge. To liven up the scene I accentuated the turquoise, green, blue and violet colours and made the water ripples dramatic.
