Metro reflection and pylons

On the way back I stopped and painted another scene of the new metro entrance in st Henri station. The glass was reflecting the scene behind me, which consisted of the sun shining through the clouds, a building, and trees. In the foreground there was a great pile of pylons left over from the construction, no doubt costing $2 a day each to sit there. It was a daunting scene to paint, consisting of sun shining through clouds reflecting in blue-green tinted glass. Through the  tinted glass, the interior of the station, and even the building across the street could be seen just barely. All this had to be painted while leaving the space free for the oddly stacked pylons. I had to adjust the hue of the reflection with a blue-green tint on the sky and the bricks. The sun reflection was strong enough to overcome the greenish tint. At first you think its the sky, then the structure of the building, and the true-blue sky at the very top tell you its a wall reflection. I almost walked past thinking it wouldn't work out... then I told myself, either this is going to be one of the paintings of the year when I do the year-end review, or its going to be a disaster, not much middle-ground. We will see where it lands, but it was definitely not a disaster. One theme of the year I have been working on is the idea of reflections.
