Stumps along the canal, green reflections

These trees along the canal bike path had been deteriorating for years, their bark and branches had been falling off onto the path. Probably dead inside from the worms, the city finally cut them down this year. I heard that in the old days they might cut down 50 trees a year, now they are cutting thousands per year. To do this painting, I actually stood on one of the massive stumps to have a flat surface. Monolithic elevated highways loom in the background.

The reflection was pretty neat under the Dollard avenue bridge. Actually, its called the "Gauron Lafleur Station Lachine Canal National Historic Site Bridge" but lets just go with green bridge! I liked the blue-green transition in the water, and the iconic black railing and bike path in the foreground. Today was an adjustment period, when the seasons change so does the painting style. When spring/summer arrives I tend to over work paintings until finding the groove. Then in winter I have to simplify again. Over the past five years of almost non stop painting, I wonder if any painter has ever made so many painting on locations around Montreal?
