Up and down the Jacques Cartier Bridge

Today was mostly about going for a long bike ride, and of course making a few paintings along the way. Since the paths are completely free of snow and ice I decided to do a loop around the Jacques Cartier bridge, down to Parc Jean Drapeau, then back across the bridge Concorde. In the painting you see Victoria bridge on the horizon, which is west of my position. Below me, there was just 100 meters of air then the st Lawrence river. Of course, a tall fence was in front of me, which I omitted from the painting. Its tough painting here because of the noise, cars and trucks rumble by all the time.

Half way across Cartier bridge (seen in the background going left to right) , there are these old decorated plaster towers leading to the off ramps and the theme park la Ronde. Behind the bridge, you see one of the tallest rides, it brings people up seated in a ring, then drops to the ground full speed. Its a struggle to get that shade of pale yellow correct on the tower, I used yellow ochre, orange, and dark green with some blue or purple probably. In the end it looks about right. For detail I had the number 2 brush with me, it was used in the decorations and other fine lines.

This is a small car and footbridge called pont Cosmos, it connect st Helen island to Notre Dame island. They loved the religious references around here. Its the first time in awhile I got to paint the free-flowing water. As it rippled around the bridge support, different shades of blue, green and teal shimmered.
