Today was a beautiful Autumn day not too cold and a bright blue sky. There is a little park near the train tracks close to where I work called coffee park. Recently they built a small basketball court which you can see to the left of the painting. A walking path cuts through the park leading past the court, a play area, and out to Westminster street. I have painted here quite frequently due to the proximity and the interesting contours. Here is another painting from
coffee park.
Impressionism is all about transmitting the feeling of a location using colour and texture. In this painting, I exaggerated some of the colours from the trees which were just beginning to change from green to orange. I also established some expressive lines and textures on the foliage. I hope you get the feeling of a cool Autumn day and an interesting little park in the city.
