As the Maisonneuve path continues eastwards the city gives way to a long stretch of pine trees and grassy hills that separate the busy Notre Dame street from the dense residential area. The pine trees have a great pine smell, and they cast interesting shadows over the path as you can see in the painting. Its also known as a place where people sleep in tents, not that they are allowed to, but its a place to set up a temporary home until the city tells them to clear out.

Beyond Notre Dame is the new port with all the colourful shipping containers. In the foreground you see the earthy ground covered in red-brown pine needles, like you would see on the forest floor of Algonquin park for example.

Usually the background is horizontal, but this time the background had an enormous pale-pink factory in the background, it must be for sand or concrete or something. It made for a neat contrast with the wild organic branches and needles of the pine trees. I like the pastel composition here. But today's adventure had just begun...
