For the third day I used the car to get around and find locations to paint. Unfortunately, the so called scenic road had nice landscapes but no lookout sites or tourist parking in fact they had a no parking anywhere sign. Maybe it was the security being close to the border, but anyways I returned to Sutton and found some good places there. I fact, the hotel parking lot once again provided this incredible scene of a flowering tree. 6x7.5" cold press, watercolour, July 2020
After a huge rainstorm passed I headed out again, this time to the Mont Sutton parking lot. Sutton must have the best views of any parking lots in the world. The sun was going down creating some interesting oranges in the sky which I thought was sunset, but later realized it was hazy smog probably from distant forest fires. 8 x 10" cold press watercolour, July 2020
By now the heat had taken it out of me and my legs were still aching from the hike I did the day before. Sitting to rest I saw this scene and thought of the Zoltan Szabo how-to book where he had a guide to paint puddles using watercolour. Hopefully I did his lessons justice. The telephone pole was reflecting in the puddles, in his example it was birch trees.

That's it for the Sutton blogs I did 13 paintings and showed 9 in the blogs which were all done direct from my smart phone. Who's the smart one now? Okay, I couldn't resist showing one more...the iron oxide paint and rusty/mossy roof really grabbed my attention on this little shack on Maple street, Sutton. There was a ladybug on the painting, you can see it bottom right. Also threw in a neon green sign using bismuth yellow and a touch phthalo green yellow shade. 6x7.5" cold press watercolour, July 2020
