The Keystone Symposium is a prestigious conference held in Colorado, mainly for its central location in the USA, and its close proximity to ski hills. The conference allowed for a long break each afternoon so that the delegates could go skiing. I was in the midst of doing a PhD with Quim Madrenas and his lab who sponsored the trip. Not being a skier, I brought along my watercolour kit and made a series of plein air paintings by adding salt to the water. It was very cold but the sun was bright and strong. The snow was also piled high and deep making for some great opportunities. The paintings are all done on cold press paper, either 5 x 7" or 5 x 8", watercolour. These were done in the year 2000
Here are some others from the trip...brrrrrr!
