Green space is hard to come by in the city, up in Westmount there is a park called summit park where they have preserved a large forest with winding paths. I went there before during the pandemic to make some paintings in seclusion, including a view from the forest, and a barrier at the lookout. Now that the lockdown is lifted they gave removed all the barriers and fences from the lookout area although they still expect a 2 meter spacing and encourage the use of masks. I was hoping for some peace and quiet on this brief excursion but there was some kind of loud construction and jackhammer noises echoed through the forest. Painting a forest scene like this is uncommon for me, it never seemed feasible, but with my new found colour mixes of greens and browns it seemed like a good thing to try. I will definitely go back, there is a great view of the downtown from the lookout. 8 x 10" cold press, watercolour, August 2020
