Mont Sutton, Mohawk Lake, last day

Here is the last painting from the brief trip we took, done today in fact. We hiked up the south route to lake Mohawk which is a small lake surrounded by rock and rugged trail. We made it most of the way around the lake but there were too many tourists there and we turned back. It was coffee time anyways! I used bold criss-crossed wave forms using raw sienna and raw umber which conveys the swirling wind. We were sitting up on a rock ledge having lunch, looking down about 3 meters onto the lake and a small beach. Water lilies floated on the far shore. After painting lake Vogel on the last trip here I rethought the way to mix greens, they needed to more vibrant. I used phthalo green (PG7) and perylene maroon (PR179), with benzimida yellow (PY154) which are three very bright colours, the green and red very dark.
