Trees and Long Shadows, Catalogue update

The sun was getting low but still casting enough light for a blue sky and brilliant olive-green grass. I painted this scene on the way back from work in Loyola Park near the end of Somerled Avenue. You can see the shadow from the baseball diamond fence at the bottom right. Yesterday, I completed a catalogue update with all the new paintings from January up to the end of March and added numbers to the respective blogs. I also found some typos to fix such as the spelling of February! A few weeks ago I posted a blog about a painting of a commuter train on a grey day, in which I mentioned that my next catalogue update would include the 4000th painting. It was just a coincidence, in fact, that grey day painting turned out to be the 4000th painting of the catalogue. As a young man in graduate school in 1999, I once boasted to friends that I had painted at least 5000 paintings. Of course that number was way off, its almost 25 years later and I haven't hit that number. My wise friends incidentally did not believe me at the time.
