Graffiti Truck

My hope was to have warmer weather before doing more outdoor paintings but Saturday came with a sharp windchill. I wore the moose mitts while riding my bike but switched to thinner base gloves to make the painting because of the amount of detail that was required. This truck had a bright magenta graffiti on the side of it, the wheel hubcaps were iron oxide red, and the windshield was a jade-like green. I worked hard to get the apartments in the background looking good, the colour of brick was a neutral brown that was leaning red, and the windows were arranged as if on a checkerboard. It was a struggle to finish the painting, I cut short some details and just got my signature on it. The truck has a ladder on top of it, but it came out rough. No matter, the painting captures every ounce of what I felt there on the corner of Rue St. Jacques an Patricia Ave.

Graffiti Truck, 5 x 7.5" cold press, watercolour, March 2021 (No. 2579a)
