Technically the fall term started on Tuesday but today was the first class for me, teaching Pharmacology for Sport and Exercise. I made this painting over lunch break sitting in the shade and looking into the campus quad. In the movies when they show a campus there are always people playing frisbee, sitting on the grass playing guitar, riding skateboards, but I didn't see anything like that. People were sitting and eating at the picnic tables under the shade or walking to and fro the various buildings. Paths criss-cross the campus quad creating an interesting pattern. I saw contrasting greens in the old copper roof, the tree leaves and the grass. Well, not that kind of grass, which by the way is also always shown in movies about University. So next time I paint this scene I will add in some frisbee, guitar and people smoking weed to make it more authentic.
