Who holds the sidewalk?

With the intense heat I spent the last few days just doing abstract paintings indoors, although I have plans to paint some night paintings of the local sunflowers at the Metro grocery store across the street. Recently I had the occasion to sit around and doodle for a few hours and used the material to make this small painting which I might use for a larger painting in the future. After years of outdoor painting in Montreal there is one element, aside from the sky, that occurs frequently, and that is the sidewalk. I gained a deep appreciation for the various shades of grey and the effects of light, shadow, rain, snow, and construction has on the lowly sidewalk. Its also interesting to find out where the end of the sidewalk is in Montreal. I don't know yet but will hopefully not find out any time soon. The adventure continues.
