Fall Scene from the Home office, Rainy Day

By now I have made more paintings of Somerled Avenue than any other artist, that is my guess! At least this auto mechanic shop is getting the artistic treatment. From time to time they look at me and wonder what I am painting. The police park their cars there quite often, probably because the police cars break down all the time. It makes me feel safer at least to have 2 or 3 cruisers across the street. I think I got the red plaster about right this time, it is deep and rich, and contrasts with the bricks from the apartment on Walkley street seen in the background. I'm on a mission to paint cars and people, in this case I got 3 cars, or at least half cars in the scene, as well as my favorite pylon. I like the yellow leaves on the cracked asphalt, and the leaves seeming to blow across the scene on the wind.

On the back of this one, which used to be the front, is a scene of downtown Montreal I did awhile ago. It was left unsigned meaning that I was unhappy with it. Probably needed some sketching in advance, and a bigger paper size to capture such a monumental scene, the Mary Cathedral. The copper green looks good, and the brick tones are right on. When the pandemic clears up I would like to go paint downtown again, but for now I'm sticking to wide open spaces or right here at the home office!
