Saturday Painting, Fall colours and Sunset

Continuing with the fall painting, here is a nice tree will an array of fall colours, lime, lemon, tangerine and orange. The sun was going down which created an additional warm glow of light. This scene was not very interesting but I could not resist the challenge of painting these colours with my fall palette! There was also a large corner of grass to set up away from people, even though I was wearing a mask.

Next, I found a little nook behind a sound-barrier wall by the train tracks behind the mall where I went to pick up a package. This scene looks on to Cote St. Luc where there are many apartment buildings. Most of the foliage is actually vines that covered the fence and posts, their leaves also change colour in the fall.

Just when I thought the painting was done for the day, I found a little patch of grass at the edge of the parking lot of the mall and made this painting of the sun setting. there were all manner of pastel tones in the sky and clouds, and reflections were coming off the cars. It was fun to use all the new paints I have to make these colours. It was mixes of magenta (PV19), violet (PV55), dark blue (PB60), red (PR254), orange (PO36), and warm yellow (PY110). The brown is raw umber (PBr7) with dark blue.
