Abstract art has to rely on the technical aspects of the artwork. Colour, line, shape, and composition play a big role in creating a good piece. Over the years I have focused more on florals, landscapes, and surrealism rather than pure abstract. Even in these palette cleansers, which are just stream of consciousness paintings, I like to include things that you might recognize. In this case, there are bubbles floating over top a game of tetris or something!
