Bright colours can be accented with neutral backgrounds. Here, I included fairly bright pink and violet patterns, then filled in neutral brown backgrounds. When it dried I added the underlying patterns to further emphasize the colours in the foreground. The dark chocolate colour on the left is raw umber, the gold on the right is yellow ochre with some isoindo yellow edging. Maybe I will try and paint something that is metallic bronze just for a challenge. 9 x 12" watercolour paper, watercolour July 2020
