Parc La Fontaine, Montreal

Yonder the gulls perch on a disused fountain. Parc la fontaine, without the fontaine! In case that doesn't make sense, parc la Fontaine (park with a fountain in English) usually has this huge cascade of water shooting up and into the small lake but with the COVID-19 they have it shut down giving the seagulls somewhere to congregate. In the background are the abundant trees and benches, while on the shore line close to me, there were little fronds and reeds growing. I completed the fountain, water, and reflection first, then the background, and finally the foreground which was overlaid on the other layers. I kept the trees without shadow because the foreground reeds and seagulls were really the focal point here. To do this painting I had to use some water from the lake since I ran out, it had a slight blue-greenish tinge. Truly a location painting!
