On the way back from the Sunday trip to Berri-UQAM I stopped again at the peaceful and relaxing Westmount park. Other than the person on the next bench saying 'you know' and 'like' to her friend every minute, it was great! In the middle of the pond they have a mini island where some trees grow and people sit and read or chat. I was sitting right behind a very large tree and had to constantly peek around it to see the scene. There were a myriad of greens to capture here, a lime green in the grass on the island, an olive green in the pond water, and different muted cool greens in the trees. The tree bark was simply iron oxide red with indothrene blue, and little flecks of burnt sienna and bloodstone for bark effects. That formula was one I worked out earlier in the summer through trial and error, now I use it without thinking. The other greens are also getting easier for me, it took awhile to get used to adding black paint for the muted greens but the results have been good. Just need to add the tiniest amount of neutral tint or carbon black. Technically, I am adding grey, since it is diluted with water. Painting here after doing the hectic metro location was a real treat.
