'Circular Suburb' and 'Fall Tree Planters'

In 2018 I was struggling a bit to find my artistic path. The doodleism was not interesting to me anymore and painting landscapes in Montreal seemed dreadfully dull. So I embarked on a series of small abstract paintings and just let my imagination wander. Maybe this one represents the circular art path we follow...it is actually a suburb painted as if in a kaleidoscope. I rotated the painting many times to capture each angle. The green is quite a high chroma here and looks artificial which adds to the eerie suburb concept. It was only in early 2020 that I would become familiar with tonal yellow by reading Handprint.com (MacEvoy). The first conscious use of tonal yellows was on a location near Angrignon, I wrote more about it in that blog.

As usual there was something painted on the back. I called it 'Fall Tree Planters'. I do believe that these were done around late September after my Europe trip to Amsterdam with Cilei, and Glasgow on my own. I have more of those paintings too, I just scanned them and will do some blogs.
