Stones in Fields

Vertical space in a composition is more complex than the horizontal. We tend to look up and down at things to figure them out, the side to side is for space. In this composition the horizontal lines are tilted awkwardly giving the feeling of moving space, and yet the object in the sky is perfectly aligned. Is it an alien object? A haystack bouncing on a trampoline? A throw pillow flying towards your face? Or, D all of the above?  'Floating Object in Field', watercolour, 5 x 7" cold press, 2018

Encouraged by this new theme I tried a variation, this time there were 5 objects with intricate carvings floating in a field. Ominous cloud formations can be seen on the horizon.

Another variation, this time with more colour, and the stacked objects more firmly planted in the soil. The field seems more lush, perhaps a river is nearby.

I just scanned a whole bunch of abstracts like this from 2018-2019 and will be posting them periodically. I am also giving each painting a name to make it easier to identify.
