Vincent Study 7

Clearly I was inspired by Van Gogh! The paper for these was a very large piece of a thinner stock hot press paper that I was saving for a large work. It wasn't very good for large works, so I cut it into a bunch of small pieces and painted on the fronts and backs. This version shows a 'Starry Night' style sky in yellow and purple, with a giant mushroom and swirling swampy (Dutch style) field in the foreground. It is reminiscent of the Lemon Sunset theme. 6 x 8" hot press, watercolour, 2018

As with all the Vincent Studies I painted on the back, this one is called 'Conveyor Belt, View at Dusk.' The names I just made up as I was scanning them, they were all untitled, but I wanted to be able to connect the painting to a blog, and eventually into a catalogue, so they needed titles! It was fun making up the titles. This could have been 'eye in the sky' but that is a little too obvious.
