Niagara Falls

From snow to waterfalls and everything in between. This painting was done in the fall, at Niagara falls Ontario. I found little nook to sit in, and painted this scene in the dying light. I still remember the sound and feeling of these massive cliffs of tumbling water. An eerie green glow permeated the crest, and a misty glow silhouetted the foreground tree. I like the bold choice of framing the diagonal tree with the linear fence and U-shaped falls. It is also a good example of using a secondary palette of purples, greens and oranges although it wasn't be design but necessity. A nice touch is the lamp post, I was adamantly putting lamp posts in my paintings for a long time maybe I'll get back to that.  5 x 7" cold press, watercolour, 2002?
